Remembering Dennis' Lightness

I'll tell you about one incident that illustrates an aspect of our friend Dennis

In the mornings, after the meditation and readings and listening to the chanting, people would get together at the house, gather around a big table and have breakfast. One morning, I was over there when everyone was having breakfast and Dennis was reading from the newspaper, as he would usually do. But he wouldn't read the main highlights of the day or the day before or the main events that were going on, he would read humorous events.

There was this one time and he was reading something that was really silly, and i just looked him and said like "What are you doing ?" He said, "It's my goal, to keep things light." Ok, fine; he went on and the rest of the day, i was just walking around the Ashrama grounds with him and for the first time it struck me that "Yes! It IS his goal to keep things light. Everyone he passed, was working at painting or gardening or some job around the Ashrama; he'd say something to them, he'd tease them - about the job they were doing, or something they were wearing or something... He would make fun of it, in a light way.

I saw how he really worked at keeping things light.

So, I just want to say, "Here's to Dennis' humor and lightness.
