Chadwick Day

Major Alan Chadwick came to the Ashram in June 1935 after having read about Bhagavan in Paul Brunton’s A Search in Secret India. He never left again but lived out his days in Bhagavan’s sannidhi. The major had been greatly affected by the war in which he lost a close friend. After the war years, his life followed an intensive spiritual search that led him to Bhagavan. He died in 1962 and is buried near the kutir he built in the Ashram in the early forties. His samadhi day was observed on 17 April.
