On the September 6, 1981, Bhagavan’s arrival at Arunachala (September 1, 1896) was celebrated in the Sri Arunachala Ramana Mandiram, ‘Arunachala Ashrama’, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Despite the forecast of bad weather, more people attended the ceremony than in any previous year, many of them driving hundreds of miles to be present. Mr.Dennis Hartel presided over the festivities, which included enthusiastic bhajans and speeches by Sri Arunachala Bhakta Bhagawat, Mr.Babubhai Parekh of New Jersey, Mr.Matthew Greenblatt and Mr.B.K.Raju who has been associated with the Ashram since it started.
"Bhagavan Sri Ramana — A Pictorial Biography”, which was compiled by Mr.&Mrs.Greenblatt was shown to Bhagavan's North American devotees for the first time.Over 200 guests attended the ceremonies, which coincidentally also marked the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Ashrama at Nova Scotia.
