இருச்சுழி நாதனைக்‌ கண்டேனே

இருச்சுழி நாதனைக்‌ கண்டேனே
இரும்பி வராமலே நின்றேனே

இல்லையி லேநடம்‌ புரிபவனாம்‌
இனர்க எளைரக்ஷித்‌ தருள்பவனாம்‌

1. இருவண்ணா மலையென்னும்‌ கேஷத்திரத்தில்‌
   இருவரு ளாய்நின்ற மலையின்மீதில்‌
   விரூபாக்ஷ மென்னுங்‌ குகைதனிலே
வேண்டிச்‌ கண்டன னாண்டவனை (இருச்சுழி)
2. காயா புரியென்னும்‌ பட்டணத்தில்‌
   கரணங்க ளா8ன்ற பிரஜைகளுடன்‌
   அகங்கார மந்திரி யோடுஞ்‌சவன்‌
   அநியாய ராச்சிய மாண்டானே
3. இப்படி யிருக்குநாள்‌ தன்னிற்‌சவன்‌
   ஈச எருளென்னும்‌ வாளேந்தி
   அகங்கார மாகுமம்‌ மந்திரியை
   அடியோடு மில்லாமல்‌ அறுத்தெரிந்தான்‌ (இருச்சுழி)
4. தறித்தெறிந்து வன்‌ நானாக
   தகராலய மென்னுங்‌ குகைதனிலே
   தாண்டவ மாடுமவ்‌ வாண்டவனைத்‌
   தான்கூழு யொன்றாகி நின்றானே (இருச்சுழி)

iṉarka el̤airakṣit tarul̤pavaṉām

1. iruvaṇṇā malaiyeṉṉum kēṣattirattil
   iruvaru ḷāyniṉṟa malaiyiṉmītil
   virūpākṣa meṉṉuṅ kukaitaṉilē
   vēṇṭic kaṇṭaṉa ṉāṇṭavaṉai (iruccuḻi)

2. kāyā puriyeṉṉum paṭṭaṇattil
   karaṇaṅka ḷā8ṉṟa pirajaikaḷuṭaṉ
   akaṅkāra mantiri yōṭuñcavaṉ
   aniyāya rācciya māṇṭāṉē   (iruccuḻi)

3. ippaṭi yirukkunāḷ taṉṉiṟcavaṉ
   īca eruḷeṉṉum vāḷēnti
   akaṅkāra mākumam mantiriyai
   aṭiyōṭu millāmal aṟutterintāṉ (iruccuḻi)

4. taṟitteṟintu vaṉ nāṉāka
   takarālaya meṉṉuṅ kukaitaṉilē

I beheld the Lord from Tiruchuzhi

Charanam

• In the holy place called Tiruvannamalai, On the hill that stands as embodiment of grace, in the cave called Virupaksha, after intense prayerful longing, I saw my Lord and Master
• In the place called ‘the town of the body’, whose citizens all the karanas, Jiva ( the individual soul) was ruling the kingdom with great injustice along with the minister ahamkara ( ego)
• While matters were proceeding thus, jiva taking the sword known as God’s Grace and cut off and destroyed the minister ahamkara and annihilated him completely
• After cutting off and throwing away the minister, jiva becoming Self, merged with the Lord who dances in the cave of the Heart and becoming one with him, dwelt as the Lord
