Artifacts of Historical Interest
An Appeal to Devotees
The Ashram would like to appeal to any and all who may be in possession of unique and irreplaceable artifacts related to Bhagavan Sri Ramana or Sri Ramanasramam. Such items would include photographs, letters, diaries, logs, personal documents, sound or picture recordings, digital files or other physical objects.
The Ashram Archives is a professional archiving facility dedicated to the permanent preservation of historically significant material. Equipped with the latest archiving technologies to ensure protection from insects, moulds, and fungus, as well as regulating temperature and humidity, the Ashram archives is conserving precious items for future generations. In cases of heirlooms related to Bhagavan that family members are loathe to part with, the Ashram Archives would simply make digital reproductions of such items for safekeeping and return the same to their rightful owners after the archiving work is completed. Digital archiving can be done without causing any harm to valued artifacts and is a way of ensuring their longevity (in digital form), eventually allowing devotees around the world to view historical objects in a future open-access online archive.
