Joyous Acceptance

by Edith Deri

Since I came into contact with the Maharshi’s teaching, my entire life has taken a new direction. As if physically, my existence has undergone a churning-up which has resulted in a hitherto unknown self-control, inner peace and equilibrium.

Outwardly little has changed. Life goes on with the same harassed agitation in the same old beautiful, busy town. The rat-race for making a living, and all that this involves, continues. Difficulties of all sorts and on all levels have not become less in number, nor in variety, since ‘the change’. What is new is the knowledge, the firm conviction, that everything that comes my way is another lesson that have to, I need to, assimilate for my own advancement.

Most established religions put forward the same teaching. I see that the Maharshi's teaching embraces all religions; his teachings and example add to and complete all religious teachings and unify them. Nobody had managed to bring home to me the truth that ALL IS ONE, until I found Bhagavan’s living example. He entered my life, my very soul, and fills me with joyous acceptance of the entire Universe, including my 'little' self, which I hope to be able to shed, through His grace and help, as a lizard sheds its skin when it becomes completely useless. I hope to arrive at that all embracing awareness that is the aim and purpose of this existence. There is no more room in me for any doubts - even the time element has ceased to worry me. Whatever has to be accomplished is bound to come to pass in his own good time.

With this firm conviction, I manage to maintain the constant flow of joyous acceptance which in no way signifies inertia.
